Bragging Rights “Iron man match” by far the best match of the year?


It was a fight for brand supremacy as WWE presented its first-ever Bragging Rights pay-per-view. While the show was focused around the 7-on-7 battle between Raw and Smackdown, only a trophy was on the line there. Instead, it was the 60-minute Iron Man Match between Randy Orton and John Cena for the WWE Championship that stole the show, as Cena won the decisive fall in the final seconds to reclaim the title. The main event Iron Man Match was hot from the start and well-paced to keep both the fans in the arena and at home into the contest. Most of the wrestling commentators were very positive about it, giving to it very high rating, and numerous saw it as a possible 2009 best match award!
Personally I found in it what make the Cena~Orton encounter so
magic for me! An insatiable Randy Orton will to destroy completely his opponent (he nearly succeeded dominating the 2/3 of the match) and the incredible resilience of John Cena coming back as usual in the last part of the fight to finally reclaim the victory! The two wrestlers brawling inside and outside the ring, their works and the selling of their works was tremendous. Kudos to both wrestlers! More I’m seeing the match, more I ‘m liking it

Of their series, this actually might be my least favorite. Not a bad match by any means, but nothing near classic or MOTY.

A cube has 6 sides, R-Truth is a terrible rapper, Drew McIntyre isn't nearly as bad as the IWC would have you believe, and Abyss is popular because loser metalheads can relate to him.

Although it was a great match its still got nothing on taker vs michaels

Lesnabis, I like you mate, but I reckon if Orton had ended up winning this same match instead of Cena you'd be making a topic instead saying that Cena's career was over and the end of the world is nigh.

It was a good match, a great match, but not MOTY I don't think, my Japanese friend.

Taker vs HBK certainly a big match. But for me a great match is a fight I can see again and again without being tired! It's not the case for Taker vs Edge or even Taker against HBK. But there is some fights like Cena vs Edge TLC match, Cena vs Orton at SummerSlam 2007...I have already see many times and will see again! ...And this Iron man match is certainly one of them. A Great match indeed. Of course the extraordinary chemistry between Cena and Orton may be the cause!

Now list a match you enjoy over and over that doesn't involve john cena please

Ive seen bret hart vs 1-2-3 kid many times and im still not over, but i dont think a 60 minute iron man match is something i could watch numerous times

Of course not! But it wasn't. A great victory for Cena but also a great demonstration of Randy Orton's top level among the WWE's wrestlers! There are the two dominant wrestlers in WWE in my opinion up to DX and so. I suppose that their feud will restart one day because it was and will be the rivalry that will stay among the best in WWE History.
The Feud between Orton and Kofi That WWE seems to want to build up looks really pale and cannot be compared with their feud! It's true that Kofi is still far away behind the still relatively youth Cena or Orton.

I just received the Bragging Right DVD. That confirm for me that the Iron Man Match between Cena and Orton is not only by far the best match of the night but the best WWE 2009 year match !

Of course I have seen the match the following day and many many times since but only on relatively small screen (on my pc!) as I looked at many pics and stories in many sites. The fact to see it again on big TV screen give to the fight an other big dimension that confirm me in my opinion that the Iron man match was well the great match of this year!

I think an argument can easily be made to have this as MOTY, but as much as I enjoyed the match, it probably won't be in my top 5 for the simple reason, that I don't enjoy re-watching Iron Man matches, especially in the short term. Many years later, perhaps, but as soon as now.
