My father mentioned to me two days ago that Guns 'N Roses had a new album coming out this, or next, month. Being a decently sized GNR fan, I was incredibily skeptical about this piece of news. Chinese Democracy has been plugged, hyped and rumoured for over a decade now, so I didn't believe any talk of it ever being released.
But is it true? I don't have the time to search the web for answers, but could some of the admirable WV posters provide some insight into this situation. Could it be possible that my father isn't on crack, and that the mythical Chinese Democracy is indeed on its way?
And if it is, what are your bets on how bad it will turn out to be?

23/11/08 CocaineCowboy started a thread about it not too long ago, but it had a bit of a mystery title. So yeah, it looks like its true, and I don't think your dad's on crack like you said he might be lol. Personally, I like GnR, but I really dunno, I'm not looking forward to it, and I definately think it will be a pretty big disappointment for anyone who has been waiting 10+ years. Having said that, I hope I'm wrong

Indeed, there is a another thread, with links to a couple of songs, "Oh my God" and "I.R.S". Both are rather raw sounding but decent enough.
The album is confirmed for release on the 23rd Nov and Slash has been quoted as saying he has heard it and it is quite good.
Me I have gotten sick of waiting for it, so I will get it with no sense of anticipation. Shame really, because from around 89 to 93, this band was destined to be the biggest band ever. Axle, with all his immense talent, is quite a few pickets short of a fence

Yeah I started a thread last week I think but it's all good....
I think allot of people are trying to set the bar way too high for this album, and will be happy with nothing short of a masterpiece like Appetite for Destruction was and when they don't get it, they'll shove the stick even further up their a$$ and claim they told you so while picking apart every little insignificant detail...
I'm actually looking forward to this album...Do I think it will be a Masterpiece??...Not a chance....I'm going to take this album for what it really is and that is an above average Hard Rock record, and that's really all anyone can realistically expect....

Sorry about the double thread posting guys, I've been way too busy to check out every thread posted in recent times. My bad. I too am looking forward to the album, and am not expecting a masterpiece. I'll judge it by the same standards that I do for every album. As for the closing question of my first post ... I'd just find it hilarious if the album turned out to be horrible. Just cynical me.

Ok, so the 23rd has come and gone and truthfully, I have not heard one word about this album. Has it been released, and has anybody listened to it? Worth getting?

It's decent enough.....Even the pretentious a$$hole cocksuckers at Rolling Stone gave it 4 out of 5 stars....When the Nielson SoundScan first-week figures come out, it will defiantly be Gold if not Platinum....
It sounds like a Guns N' Roses record and that's really all you can expect or ask for....Don't expect a record like Appetite, expect more of a Use Your Illusion III.....

Thanks cowboy. I will take a listen and then get the album if it's decent enough.

I heard one of the songs over the radio in a store the other day. It was undeniably Axl Rose's voice, and it sounded terrible. I should be receiving this for Christmas or my birthday (which is two days before Christmas ... ), so hopefully my, albeit not very definitive, first impressions are proven wrong ... I want to believe so ...

Sctoot, I've had a chance to listen to the album now for a few weeks, and must say overall, while it doesn't rock as such, it is a decent enough album. It does take a few spins though to get into it. It is hard to categorise, but certainly nothing like any other G'n'F'n'R album. The stand out tracks to me would be " This I love", an epic ballad and "Madagascar", which would have been awesome with Slash. Oh Well

What are some ways political parties encouraged democracy in America? I'm writing a paper on how the emergence of early US political parties--Federalists and Democratic-Republicans--helped to promote democracy in the US. I've got about half my paper done, but I'm fresh out of examples to use to prove my point. Can anyone think of an example from this time period (from the Revolution up until the end of Jefferson's term) to help prove my point?
